In yet another sign of the “enthusiasm gap” between supporters of Barack Obama and supporters of John McCain comes this clever and funny take on Les Miserables.

There may have been a time when John McCain could have been considered a “maverick,” but that time has clearly come and gone. McCain has hired Karl Rove’s henchmen to run what even the traditional media is calling one of the nastiest campaigns in recent memory.
You may have heard the reports that as mayor of Wasilla Sarah Palin considered banning books from the local library. Now the traditional media is finally picking up on the story. Among the book she may have looked into banning was Pastor, I am Gayby former PFLAG regional director Reverend Howard Bess.
Palin, now the Republican Vice-Presidential nominee, was elected mayor of Wasilla in 1996 with strong support from the Wasilla Assembly of God. The Assembly of God is well known for preaching anti-gay rhetoric from the pulpit.
Good Morning America aired this investigative report into the controversy:
But beyond the “lipstick” comment itself, there are several other points of opportunistic impropriety here. Like, for instance — what campaign was Katie Couric actually talking about when referencing sexism? Was “that campaign” referring to Obama’s, as Team McCain implies, or was it referring to…
Dave Stewart (formerly one half of Eurythmics) and Bono wrote this beautiful new song as a testament to the hope and promise of political change represented by the Obama campaign.
It must be nice to have some many multi-million dollar homes that you can’t remember how many you have. Unlike John McCain, most Americans don’t have that problem. Instead we are struggling to pay the rent/mortgage and keep our heads’ above water.
This new ad from the Obama campaign makes the case that the White House is one house that we can’t afford to let McCain own.
UPDATE:The Jed Report put together this video that takes us on a Google Earth tour of each of John McCain’s million dollar homes.
The Human Rights Campaign PAC has released a blistering report on Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s pathetic record on LGBT civil rights. The report entitled John McCain: A Record of Opposing the Interests of GLBT Americans shows that while McCain maybe be a “straight” talker, he is no maverick when it comes to supporting the right of LGBT Americans to equal treatment under the law.
Oh, my, Senator McCain. What on earth will you do?
Pastor Rick Warren, who moderated the first forum between John McCain and Barack Obama on Saturday at his mega-ministry’s Saddleback Church, in Lake Forrest, California, was asked on Good Morning America whether he’d have a problem trusting or voting for someone who committed adultery.
WARREN: You have to earn that trust. All leadership is built on trust. It’s built on credibility. If you don’t have credibility, if you don’t have authenticity, if you don’t have trust, you’re not a leader even if you have the title. And the moment you lose the trust of the American public you’re no longer the leader. You may still have the title but you’re not it. It takes years to build trust and you can lose it instantly — and it takes even longer to rebuild.
…TAPPER: Would you have compunctions about voting for someone who had cheated on his wife?
WARREN: Absolutely I would. Absolutely I would. Because if you can’t keep your faith to your most sacred vow – “’til death do us part” — how in the world can I trust you to lead my family? My government? My nation?…Absolutely I would. I think people first need to ask forgiveness and then earn trust back over time Can trust be re-earned? Absolutely but it takes time.
You see, when the party of “family values” viewed protecting marriage as an anchor or wedge position, they smiled when it brought votes home. Now the loose-zipper pols have to deal with the blowback — it’s time to play the hypocrisy card since John McCain has embraced the American Taliban.
